The festive season for many, is a time for celebration, indulgence, and spending time with loved ones. However, it’s also a time when our oral health routines can take a backseat. At City Dental Practice, we want to help you enjoy the festivities while keeping your teeth and gums healthy.
From mince pies to Christmas pudding, sugary foods are everywhere during the the festive season. Limit how often you indulge, and try to eat sweets during meals rather than as snacks. This reduces the time your teeth are exposed to sugar.
Drink plenty of water to rinse away food particles and sugars. It’s especially helpful after enjoying festive drinks like mulled wine or cocktails, which can be acidic and stain teeth.
With busy schedules and late nights, it’s easy to forget your oral hygiene routine. Make brushing for two minutes twice a day and flossing once a day non-negotiable, even after a long day of celebrating.
If you’re on the go and can’t brush after a meal, chewing sugar-free gum can help stimulate saliva production and neutralize harmful acids in your mouth.
Kickstart the new year with a fresh, healthy smile by scheduling a dental check-up. It’s a great way to address any concerns and maintain your oral health after the festive period.
